It's Easy Being Green!
Many of us have lots of piles of t-shirts and other garments in our
closets and storage bins. For whatever reason, these shirts will no
longer be worn. Adult kids going off to college typically don't
wear their high school shirts anymore. What better way to tell the
story of their youth by cleaning out the closets and bins and
making a Memory Quilt that can be cherished for years!
Recycling and reusing are what "being green" is all
about. Your Memory quilt, pillow, or bear will accomplish three
things:
- make a
one-of-a-kind gift for the lucky recipient
- clean out your
closets and dresser drawers
- help the
environment since you are re-purposing the many garments
If
interested in a Memory Quilt, Pillow, or Memory Bear please contact
me ASAP. Currently I have 24 quilts on my schedule. My shop is busy
every day preserving your most cherished memories.

Graduation
quilts are in high demand right now. If interested please do
not delay in sending me the order. Every year I wind up turning
people away, and I dislike doing this so please plan accordingly.

Lots of
people have ties that are no longer being worn. What better way to
re-purpose them than to make them into a stunning Tie Quilt. Tie
quilts are very popular right now. A record number have been made
since the start of the year. This tie quilt contains 21
ties. I sincerely hope it brings comfort to the special mom
who received it from her children in honor of their dad. Learn more

Re-purposing shirts and other garments into beautiful handmade
quilts is truly recycling at its best! Below are the six different
style quilts MQBM makes.
|
|
|
The
Staggered style quilt is very popular! This style is good for
shirts with large graphics. Each block is staggered slightly, hence
the name ;) It is the perfect amount of whimsy!
|
|
|
The Block
style quilt is very popular! This style is good for garments other
than t-shirts or t-shirts with small graphics. If you have
flannel shirts, cotton button down shirts, blouses, or even light
weight jeans and khakis, this style is perfect. Many squares and rectangle
shaped blocks make up this style.
|
|
|
The Modern
style quilt is perfect for garments that have both large and small
graphics on them. This quilt has a very modern look to it and is
made up of 100% garments. There is no cotton sashing added.
|
|
|
The
Traditional style quilt with block sashing is good for shirts that
have large graphics. This style is less expensive than the
traditional style quilt with premium friendship star sashing. It
requires less labor. This style is very popular!
|
|
|
The
Traditional style quilt with premium friendship star sashing is
also good for shirts that have large graphics. This style is
classic, the friendship star pattern has been around since the late
1700's. This style requires more labor than most other styles.
|
|
|
The basic
style is just that---basic. It comes in one size, has the same size
blocks, and has no sashing around each blocks. This style is good
for those who are on a strict budget.

|
|
|
|
|
Yes, Please!
As you can see this Staggered style Quilt contains lots of t-shirts
with large graphics. The sashing (fabric around each block) was
made from the child's denim jeans! Who knew recycling could be so
beautiful.

Custom Veteran Patchwork Pillows
These three 20" pillows were made from one very special
Vietnam Veteran Varsity jacket. May they bring honor to the veteran
that is pictured on each pillow. These pillows are truly custom
because:
- a custom design was
created for each pillow highlighting several pieces of the
jacket. Each pillows contains 9 blocks and 2 photos
- two photos were
included on each
- cording was added
This is
not the first time MQBM has made a pillow from a Veteran's Varsity
jacket. Each time is no easier, but we are happy to do it and see
the end result. Cutting the jacket is very difficult.
Pictured below is the World War II veteran pillow made for another
very special veteran a while back.
