P.S. We Love You

The gift of memories is a precious gift. What better way to tell a person you love them than by giving them the gift of sweet memories.  Whether the memories are of a lost loved one, of a child's wonderful youth, or maybe memories of  a hobby like marathon running, a Memory Quilt is sure to show how much you love that person.  Your loved one's story will be sewn with love, care, and expertise into a beautiful, one-of-a-kind quilt. This past month many precious memories were sewn into several lap quilts, two twin sized quilts, one queen size quilt,  and many pillows!
Graduation quilts are in high demand. Currently I have ten on my schedule, combined with the other 5 quilts on my schedule, my shop is busy each and every day preserving your dearest memories. If you are interested in a Memory Quilt for any occasion, please contact me ASAP so I can add you to the list. Quilts are now taking 3-4 months.
I hope many of you decide to show your love this year with the gift of a Memory Quilt and for those of you lucky enough to have a Memory Quilt may it keep you warm and comfortable on these cold winter days.

The Color of Love

This traditional style, regular lap quilt made with premium friendship star sashing was made for a loving wife and mother in honor of her late husband. The beautiful bold colors work so nicely and they highlight the shirts perfectly! May this quilt bring much comfort and warmth to the Mahan family!

The Power of Two!

I am working on a second quilt for Mrs. Mahan's daughter, Laura. Every single quilt that I have worked on this January has been an additional quilt for a past customer.  Repeat business tells me I am doing it right!

Live Long And Prosper

My first Star Trek Quilt!  Shown below is a traditional small lap quilt made with block sashing.  Ten well loved Star Trek t-shirts and four beautiful ties were included.  A classic black backing was selected to go with the gray and electric blue sashing!

It's All In the Style

Many people ask if I can make Memory Quilts with garments other than t-shirts. The answer is YES! For this very reason I offer five different styles of Memory Quilts.  I don't think there is any other quilt company that does this.  These five styles ensure that the perfect style is selected that will highlight your garments the best. Shown bellow is the Block Style quilt. This quilt is perfect for items like cotton dress shirts, blazers, and pants.
Each of the five styles that I make are illustrated in this newsletter.

Another example of a Block style Quilt made with dress shirts, dress pants, and cotton blazers. No t-shirts were used in this quilts.

In this Block I included:

  • corduroy pants
  • denim jeans
  • cotton dress shirts

This quilt was backed with a gorgeous camel colored flannel.

Extra Special

I strive to make sure that my quilts have many items that make the quilt extra special!  This quilt shown below has a sweet photograph as well as the word "unforgettable" embroidered on a hankie. Both the picture and the embroidered word were extras that make this quilt truly special for Brenda in honor of her husband Julian.

Shining Bright

Yes, these two twin size Memory Quilts made in the staggered style and the traditional style shown below are shining bright! They were made for  two young adults in high school!
I can't think of a better way to preserve memories. Charlie's quilt tells a beautiful baseball story with baseball patches and all!  Emily's quilt tells a story of dance and musical performances. The center block contains here favorite Winnie the Pooh fleece that she wore all the time growing up ;)

Pillow Tak

This pillow is so special for many reasons.  It contains a sweet sailor suit dress from the 1970's and a t-shirt with an image of the child's adoption certificate. Linda's daughter was adopted from Korea.  This pillow tells the amazing story of her adoption.

Extra Mile

Here is the back of the pillow. The child's baby blanket was used as the backing!  To make it even more special custom cording was added.  The cording is made from the baby blanket-another way we here at MQBM go the extra mile to make your Memory pillow or quilt special.

Tech Talk

I get lots of positive feedback about how much my quilt pictures are enjoyed. Because of this my website, newsletters, and facebook page are full of them! However, many of my pictures cannot be viewed well on cell phones.  If you want a really wonderful viewing experience, it is better to view quilt pictures on a desktop computer or a tablet.

Get It Together

Ordering a Memory Quilt is easy! You need the following:

  • completed order form (see link below)
  • garments in a box/bag/container
  • $100 deposit per quilt written out to Molly Fisher

If you are local, we schedule a meeting at my shop. At this meeting we discuss your quilt and you get to see and feel some of my handmade quilts. If you are outside the Philadelphia area, simply send me the items listed above via the US Postal Service, UPS, or Federal Express. UPS is fast and does a great job tracking the package and notifying you once it has been delivered. This process is very reliable. My quilts have been mailed to 4 continents!
Once I receive the package, I always email you and let you know that the package is safe. After this task is completed, your work ends and my work begins! You can sit back, relax, and enjoy the pictures that I send of your beautiful quilt.

That Time of Year

Graduation quilts are now being ordered!  Currently I have ten grad quilts on my schedule. NOW is the time to order. Please remember that these quilts take a very long time to make and turning away people is no fun!
