Bonjour,
mes amis!
Splendid Summer Surprises
I hope your summer has had a few sweet surprises!
I know several recent graduates who have been splendidly surprised
with beautiful graduation quilts that illustrate their flair so
artfully! I have been told, over and over again, what perfect gifts
these quilts make for graduates or for anyone who has a t-shirt
collection or any memorable fabric that they want to preserve. Below
are pictures of recent quilts that I have made, beginning with the
Quilt of the Month! Enjoy my latest newsletter!
My summer is still very busy here at MQBM. If you are
interested in a Memory Quilt, for any occasion, please contact me so
that I can add you to the list. Currently, I have 21 quilts on my
schedule. Turn around time is about 4-5 months, so please plan
accordingly. I hate to even bring this up, but, the holiday season
will be here before you know it, so if you are interested in a quilt
for December, please get your order in ASAP. It is a good idea
to begin thinking about it now, because I will have to turn people
away this year.

Quilt of the Month
I chose this traditional style baby quilt that measures
54" by 54" for QOM because of the many unique items
included in it! No baby quilt is complete without a gorgeous infant
hat, which has an adorable poof, see up close picture below on the left!
The quilt block shown on the right is part of a precious onsie that
was embroidered by the child's grandmother. Four of these onsies were
included in this beautiful baby quilt. Click here to learn more about baby quilts.

Crazy About You
The above modern style, lap size quilt was made for a
recent graduate. The picture on the right is of the "pillow case
block" in the quilt. This pillow case, made from a self portrait
that was drawn by this graduate when he was a young child, looks
wonderful! I just love that it was included in his quilt!

Sorority Girls Forever!
I made two graduation quilts for two
Tri Sigma sisters of mine! I was honored to make them for Roe and
Val's daughters who both graduated from high school this past June!

Rachel will
take this modern style lap quilt to Millersville University this
fall. These quilts always carry a "bit of home" in
them. Roe shared a sweet story about how important some of these
garments are: read

Here is a picture of Rachel now and then! I think Rachel's quilt
will show her flair perfectly in her dorm room and provide fond
memories of home! Perhaps another Sigma? We hope so!
Best wishes Rachel!

This modern style, twin size quilt measures 70"
by 95" and was made for another Sigma! Val's daughter,
Caitlyn, will use this twin size quilt for her dorm bed!

We wish her the best as she leaves to attend the University of
South Carolina in the Fall. Perhaps another Tri Sigma? We hope so!
Best wishes Caitlyn!

Hand Picked
I am asked frequently what type of t-shirts are
best for Memory Quilts, and I always answer that the t-shirts with
the most memories are the best! But, there are a few things to keep
in mind as you gather your t-shirts:
- shirts that have dates are wonderful because
they establish a timeline in your quilt
- include at least one shirt with your last
name on it
- shirts with personal photos on them are great
- homemade shirts are the BEST!
- bright colored shirts work really well
- try to limit the number of white shirts,
white shirts get dirty fast!
- if you have several shirts with same logo,
only select one or two colored ones
- omit torn or ripped shirts unless the rip is
on the sleeve or far away from the logo
- omit stained shirts
- try to select shirts from the many phases of
your life, not just one phase
Remember more than shirts can go into your Memory Quilt!

Life Is Good
Recently I
made three Memorial Quilts for three sons that lost their father.
These quilts were filled with Life is good shirts because their dad
wore so many of them! Two of the quilts were made in the Block style
to showcase the small logos! All three were backed in super soft
flannel!

Classic Style
The
traditional style, large lap quilt was made with premium friendship
star sashing. There are very few t-shirts in this quilt but several
beautiful skirts, sweatshirts and even a pillow top! I love
this classic style quilt! Click here
for more photos.
